Igor Sliwinski’s trip to Devonport ended in the narrowest of defeats on Saturday.

The Bideford boxer was on the top of the bill at the Devonport show, facing 2017 national finalist Brandon Stacey.

Despite giving away weight and experience to his opponent, Sliwinski started well. In a tactical battle between an orthodox fighter and a southpaw, the Bideford boxer landed some straight rights in the opening round.

Stacey showed good timing in the second to counter-punch Sliwinski, who moved well to avoid the leading punches and hit back with his own.

With all to play for in the final round, Sliwinski tried to up the pace, but Stacey countered well, doing enough to pick up the split decision win over the Bideford boxer.
