Portishead Town 1-6 Barnstaple Town
BARNSTAPLE Town swiftly put their weekend FA Cup disappointment behind them with a thumping 6-1 win away at Portishead Town on Tuesday night.
Town recorded a second convincing away win in succession, having opened their league campaign with a 5-0 win at Ashton and Backwell a couple of weeks ago.
And this time they went one better, netting six times to condemn Portishead to a fourth defeat in their opening four league games.
Dave Pearse was the stand-out man for Barnstaple, netting a hat-trick to put himself ahead in the club’s top scorer charts.
Billy Tucker, Jed Harper-Penman and Ryan Turner were also on target for the away side.
The only blot on their copy paper came in the dying minutes of the game, when a penalty was converted by the home side to deprive Barry Yeo’s team of a clean sheet.
Barnstaple will now turn their attentions to mirroring their away form in their upcoming home matches, following defeats at home to Wincanton Town in the league and Witheridge in the FA Cup extra preliminary round.
They now play two games at Mill Road in a row, with Westbury United visiting on Saturday and Cheddar coming to town on Tuesday.
