A RELATIONSHIP formed last year between Royal North Devon GC and a club from Germany has blossomed with Golf Burgkonradsheim Koln golfers heading over to Westward Ho! to celebrate RND’s 150th anniversary.

The two clubs formed a bond in 2013, when Hugh Bone led a team from RND to victory at the Omaha Beach golf course in Normany, France.

Royal North Devon extended an invitation for the German club to enter teams in the seniors open day competition, with two teams making the trip.

Following a welcome dinner for the German golfers and their wives, the club’s golfers finished first and second in the visitors’ competition.

Following the competition and presentations, Burgkonradsheim captain Werner Schneider presented RND senior captain Tom Stirzacker with a specially-commissioned painting.

The two clubs then visited Saunton Links for a friendly match to bring to a close a well-enjoyed visit.
