The new club - named Tarka Storm - is hoping to be in action for the 2018 season.

Rugby League could be set to return to North Devon for the 2018 season.

Serviceman Neil Edwards has founded Tarka Storm, a new club which will take part in next year’s South West Rugby League season.

Edwards moved to North Devon in May, and is keen to set up a new team in the void left by North Devon Raiders, which folded last year.

With Storm’s progress gradually developing, Edwards is now looking interested players, including rugby union players who may like to switch codes for the summer period.

“I’ve played league for the army and for clubs, playing quite a lot in Surrey and I think it works for union players over the summer, because it helps keep them ready to play games and transfer the skills they’ve learned back over to union,” he said.

“You look at players like Sam Burgess and Andy Farrell, they’ve switched between the two and it proves there’s a flexibility.

“If we can get us up and running and playing games we can do it. With the right set up we can get it going.”
