This week’s Cornwall and Devon League, Devon One and Devon Two round-up
Torrington’s plight at the bottom of the Cornwall and Devon table wasn’t improved by a 27-12 defeat at Plymouth Argaum.
Ben Harper scored both Torrie tries, one of which was converted by Tom Gooch.
Defeat leaves Torrie 21 points adrift at the bottom and running out of time to save themselves.
Torrie are back at Donnacroft this Saturday for a game against Plymstock Albion Oaks.
South Molton were knocked off the top of the Tribute Devon One table without playing a game.
Molton’s game against Exeter Saracens fell foul of the weather. Topsham trounced Totnes 66-22 to snatch top spot.
New Cross are the visitors to Unicorn Park this Saturday afternoon.
Ilfracombe were left gameless when St Columba and Torpoint cried off against them due to team-raising issues.
As Columba failed to honour the first meeting between the clubs in November, league officials told them they must give up their home game and travel second time round.
Columba have been warned by the same league officials that if they cry-off one more game in Devon Two this season they will be kicked out of the competition under the 25 per cent rule.
Any club that fails to play 25 per cent of its fixtures is liable to expulsion.
Ilfracombe are due to travel to Devonport High School Old Boys this Saturday.
