Youngsters from 14 local primary schools come together for Park School’s annual tag rugby festival

LANDKEY Ospreys saw off competition from a number of local schools to win the 2014 Park Community School tag rugby festival.

Some of the warmest weather of the year greeted the 14 primary school teams, as the firm pitch conditions and Petroc-provided referees led to high-paced and highly-skilled matches.

Each team was given a name to associate itself with a top class rugby team and then divided into two pools of seven, playing six games before the winners and runners up in each pool progressed to the semi-finals.

In semi-finals, Landkey School Ospreys overcame Forches School Saints, while Newport School Chiefs saw off the challenge of Bishops Tawton School Blacks.

The final was an exciting end to end affair, but it was the extra pace and flair of the Landkey Ospreys which eventually saw them triumph 20-5.
