BARNSTAPLE Colts scored all their points in the first half of a 31-14 win over visiting Weston.

After soaking up early pressure themselves, Barnstaple went through the phases for Ashlee Crouch to batter through the last vestiges of defence to open the scoring.

The forwards caused havoc, paving the way for Scott Warren to put winger Iwan Williams in for a well-taken try.

On 22 minutes, forwards Danny Giblett and Scott Warren took on the Weston defence which enabled the backs to go wide and Billy Teape showed great strength and pace to score under the posts.

The next try came when Teape chipped the Weston defence and harried the full-back into fumbling the ball, which he scooped up and took in under the woodwork.

Another Teape break set up a ruck, from which Ryan Dart eventually crossed.

With Calum Sumners adding one conversion and Scott Warren two, Barum were 31-0 at the break.

Weston came fighting back with two converted tries and great defence prevented Barnstaple adding to their tally. Centre Lee Casinelli went closest, covering 60 metres before being hauled down with five metres to go.

Casinelli and Teapem were joint men of the match. Other players to impress were Ashlee Crouch, Ollie Sanders, Jake Meredith and Scott Warren.

Barnstaple Colts’ Scott Warren, Laurence May and Calum Sumners have been selected for the Devon U18s squad for the Divisional matches over the next three weeks, with a possibility of making the South and South West squad.
