Torry will play North Tawton in Saturday’s Devon Junior Plate final

Torrington have the chance of some silverware on Saturday when they contest the Devon Junior Plate final.

The plate is for first round losers in the Devon Junior Cup. The opposition is North Tawton at North Tawton, where three finals – cup, plate and shield – are on one after the other.

Torrington, who finished second in Devon One, were expecting to contest a promotion play-off game with the runners-up in Cornwall One for a place in the Cornwall & Devon Division next season.

No play-off may be necessary though as Cornish qualifiers Newquay have pulled out saying they don’t want to be promoted.

League bosses are likely to wave Torrington through unopposed, but have yet to notify Torry officially.
