Chiefs pick up much-needed win at home to Keynsham
Bideford are out of the bottom three in South West One thanks to a 23-7 win over visiting Keynsham.
Mid-table Keynsham would have hoped for better against a side battling relegation, but were undone in the second half.
A Chris Snell penalty for Bideford was the only thing between the sides in the first half.
Hooker Tom Lewis scored a corner try converted by Sam Challinger to put Keynsham ahead briefly.
After that it was Bideford all the way. Keynsham coughed up a penalty try, Snell added another and kicked a conversion and another penalty.
Sean East popped over a drop goal.
Having lost three on the trot in the league, Bideford needed a win before a blip became a slide.
Team manager Bradley Goaman said the four points were more than welcome.
He added: “The first half was not a great spectacle for the 300 supporters with lots of errors from both teams .
“The second half saw a big improvement for us playing in to a strong wind.
“Our defence was extremely good with Dean Folland and Alex Priest putting in some big tackles.”
Bideford have no game this Saturday.
