Seven second-half tries pave the way for a huge win
Bideford cashed-in 73-7 against lowly Clevedon to stay clear of the Tribute South West One West relegation danger zone.
Bideford were boosted by the return of six players who had been out for a while.
Revived Bideford were 14-0 up inside 10 minutes, led 26-7 at half time and added seven more tries after the break.
Chris Snell with two tries and eight conversions for a personal haul of 26 points was named Bideford’s man of the match.
Other try scorers were T J Hyam, Alex Priest, James Buckland, George Snell, Dean Folland, Peter Bowes, Harry Jones, Rob Elliot and John Mock.
The game was completed on the reserve pitch in nearby Victoria Park after Clevedon’s Phil Jennings suffered a head injury.
Rather than move him to await treatment, the game moved instead. After a check over by paramedics, Jennings was able to return home on the team bus.
Clevedon were not at their strongest, but Bideford team manager Bradley Goaman said that should not detract from the size and quality of the win.
“We played extremely well, dominating the game from start to finish,” said Goaman.
“Our backs were very clinical, scoring some great tries
“Rob Elliott had a excellent game at 13, causing all sorts of problems for Clevedon .
“This win will give us a major confidence boost for our game at Cullompton this weekend.”
