Bideford will be hoping to put some distance between them and the drop zone in 2018

Bideford have a chance to put some distance between themselves and the Tribute South West One West drop spots when Clevedon visit King George’s.

Bideford are one place and a single point clear of the relegation slots in South West One – and have played a game more than Teignmouth immediately below them.

As Clevedon are rock bottom, points earned against them are worth double in the relegation fight.

Teignmouth and Matson, the sides below Bideford, face Cullompton (sixth) and Cornish All Blacks (fourth) respectively, games they will have to work hard in to come away with much.

Bradley Goaman, Bideford’s team manager, believes his side can feel optimistic about the New Year prospects.

“We had big injury problems before Christmas but now have six or seven players coming back,” said Goaman.

“Matt Dennis, George Snell, Rob Faulkner, James Buckland and Adam Crouch all return this week, which is good news for us.

“We need a big win this Saturday and will be going for it.”
