Barum need just two points to secure National League Two South safety

Barnstaple can banish the threat of relegation from National League Two South once and for all by bringing two points home from Henley.

A 21-13 win over Cinderford two Saturdays ago lifted Barnstaple four points clear of the bottom three with two games to play.

London Irish Wild Geese in the third relegation spot can only get past Barum if they win at Redruth and Barnstaple lose.

Even if Barnstaple slip up at Henley, a point will probably do it providing London Irish slip up.

And if it all goes wrong Barum have one final chance when they face Old Elthamians in the final round of fixtures.

Winston Jones, the Barnstaple captain, said the win over Cinderford was crucial.

“We are almost there thanks to the win over Cinderford, but can’t ease up yet,” said James.

“We need one more performance like the one against Cinderford then it is ‘job done’.”
