BIDEFORD were dismayed to have their match away to bottom club Kettering called off on Sunday only after they had already travelled 100 miles.
Having left Bideford at 8am for the long trip, the Robins had already reached Bristol before receiving news that the Kettering pitch was unfit due to snow and it is understood they will be seeking recompense for not having been told of the cancellation earlier.
Midweek the Robins took a valuable point with a 2-2 draw away to Arlesey, Richard Groves hitting both goals in the opening half, including a spectacular ‘Beckham style’ free kick that flew into the top corner with ex-pro keeper Nathan Abbey only able to watch.
Bideford have signed on two loanees from Torquay to help bolster their squad - central defender Carl Baker and Saul Halpin, who plays as a wide attacker.
The Robins were due to meet Plymouth Parkway in the Devon St Luke’s Bowl last night (Tuesday) before another long haul on Saturday away to Hitchin.
