Rowing club look to build on last season’s successes
Bideford Reds rowing club is once again gearing up for the 2014 regatta rowing season.
Hard indoor training and weekend water sessions have been untaken by the men, ladies and juniors to once more compete for the championships this year.
2013 was a very successful year for the club, with the J16 women’s quads, J16 boys’ quad and J14 women’s quads all capturing West of England championships.
In preparation for the nine-race regatta season ahead, the crews are taking on tough winter head races ranging from 2,000-6,000m.
The club, better known as ‘The Reds’, has amassed more than 40 West of England A.R.A Championships and three South Coast Championships in its history, which spans back to the 1880s.
The club has a top-drawer fleet of boats including coxed quads, coxless quad, double sculls and singles sculls for men, women and juniors of all abilities.
‘Explore rowing’ courses also run twice a year, aimed at complete beginners over the age of 16.
