WEST Country Triathletes’ Jack Plummer beat competition from almost 100 starters at this weekend’s Torrington ‘Terror’ triathlon.

Plummer, a lifeguard at the 1610 Trinity Sports and Leisure Centre in Bridgewater, came home some four minutes clear of his nearest rival, completing the tricky course in 1hr 19mins.

The 19-year-old took full advantage of good conditions, with Josef Pesl second in 1hr 24 mins and Andrew Cole third with a time of 1hr 26mins.

For the women, Sue Walker was first across the line in 1hr 39mins – fast enough for a top 20 finish overall – with Holly Ferrar the second fastest female athlete just a minute behind Walker.

Janet Hewlett rounded out the top three, finishing in 1hr 44mins.

The final finishers came across the line almost two hours after Plummer, with Elaine Clark completing the course in 3hrs 13mins on another highly successful running of the triathlon.
