Wright fastest in ‘Biddy Tri’
This year’s Bideford triathlon saw over 150 people lining up at the start on Sunday.
Oliver Wright was the first to complete the course, which consisted of a 600 metre swim, 23.5km cycle and 5km run, in an impressive 1hr 8mins 22.75secs.
Wright was over a minute faster than second-placed Jason Chubb, and three minutes faster than David Spencer in third.
North Devon Triathletes’ Louise Harris won the women’s race with an excellent time of 1h 19m 45.9s, finishing way ahead of the next fastest female, Samantha Stevenson, who clocked 1h 25m 15.85s.
The team event was won by Lloyds Pharmacy, Bideford in 1h 19m 53.05s.
The annual event was organised by Bideford Bridge Rotary Club alongside North Devon Triathletes to raise money and distribute it to charities and other good causes. Previous years’ races have raised upwards of £3,000 each.
