24 teams compete as money is raised for North Devon Hospice
CROSSFIT North Devon raised more than £2,000 for North Devon Hospice at a charity competition on Saturday.
North Devon’s members played host to 24 teams of three athletes from across the South West, all of whom took on five gruelling workouts to decide who would go on to the finals.
In the girls’ competition, North devon’s Shooting Sparks and Hungry Hippos both made it through to the semi finals, before a taxing final workout which concluded with 50 metres of lunges while carrying a 50kg bar.
The men’s final was equally tough, finishing with 80kg lunges, and was won by North Devon’s Older, Slower, Weaker team of Robbie Lamb, Matt Gilbert and Jason Slade.
During the day, there was also a charity cake sale and a raffle, with all proceeds going to the hospice.
“I’m pretty happy but tired!” said CFND co-owner Jason Slade. “We’ve had lots of help and it’s just nice that everyone gets involved.
“It’s great that people from all across Devon have come to support us, too - we’ve had 72 people competing her today.”
