Late drama at Marlborough Park as 10-men Boca let 1-0 lead slip
Cassian Blackmore scored an injury time equaliser for Ilfracombe Town in the top-of-the-table North Devon Gazette Premier Division clash against 10-men Boca Seniors on Saturday.
Gary Skinner headed league-leaders Boca into the lead at Marlborough Park but the visitors were up against by half-time after Adam Copp was shown a second yellow card – one of 10 shown in the match by referee Gary Suggate.
They held firm against a succession of Bluebird attacks before Blackmore snatched a point.
While Boca stay top, Braunton were handed all three points with a walkover against Georgeham & Croyde.
Braunton missed out on the chance to close the gap on Wednesday night, Ricky Marinaro equalising for the visitors in a 1-1 draw under the floodlights at Torrington.
Fourth-placed Shamwickshire Rovers did their title chances a world of good with a 7-1 win at home to North Molton, as did fifth-placed Park United, who won 4-0 at Bradworthy.
Nick Glover scored two for Park and there were singles for John Downing and Steve Skinner. Bradworthy were reduced to 10-men after Lee Gardiner was shown a second yellow card.
Just eight points now separate the top five sides in the division.
In the day’s other results, Connor White scored two for Landkey Town in a 2-1 win at Torrington. Nathan Delaune scored for Torrie.
And there was a double for Shebbear United’s Matt Facey, who beat Bideford Community AFC 3-1 despite having Jamie Sluggett sent off. James Vanstone also scored for Shebbear in the match at the Sports Ground.
