BIDEFORD dentist Nick Percival has completed an Ironman distance triathlon to raise nearly £1,000 for Cancer Research UK.
Nick, who works at the Tower House Dental Practice, was one of only 40 competitors from a field of 120 to complete the X-Man UK within the 24-hour time limit.
The event, held in Eastbourne last month, started with a two-mile sea swim, followed by a 112-mile off-road mountain bike ride through the night, and in heavy rain, along the South Downs Way.
The course finished with a 28-mile cross-country run from Winchester to Salisbury.
