Georgia Morris wins ‘Young Volunteer of the Year’ at Devon Sports Awards
TITANS Netball Club co-founder Lorraine Beel has paid tribute to Devon Sports Award winner Georgia Morris.
The 16-year-old, who assists at the club in whatever role is required, won the ‘Young Volunteer of the Year’ award at this month’s awards ceremony at Exeter’s Sandy Park.
Georgia has enjoyed a fantastic year, passing her netball ‘C’ award in umpiring and enrolling on the England Netball talented youth umpiring scheme, as well as captaining the U16 team to third in the South West Regional League.
“She has been a truly amazing role model for our club, and at the tender age of 16 she has already put in over 100 hours on the ‘Pass On your Passion Scheme’ through England Netball,” said Lorraine, who also coaches the U16s.
“She is always on the netball court, not only as a talented player, but also as an umpire and an assistant coach.”
Georgia was also recognised by the Torridge Community Action through Sports Awards (CATS) and will attend a ceremony on June 5.
She was also a winner this year in division two of the North Devon league with Titans Pluto
“As her mentor, we are all so proud of Georgia’s achievements, and feel she is so worthy of these awards,” Lorraine added.
