Yet another weekend of wet weather meant only two North Devon Football League matches took place on Saturday.
They were both in the North Devon Senior, where Northam Lions and Combe Martin both picked up three points against their respective opponents.
For Northam, they did so with a 6-2 win over High Bickington at Burrough Farm.
Ian Keen scored twice for the Lions, who led 3-0 at the break.
Declan Holmes, Luther Chaundhari, Jordan Sluggett and Kyle Waldron also scored for the hosts.
“It keeps us in tow and means we’re pulling away from the relegation spots now,” said Lions coach Roger Maher.
Saturday’s other game was at Merton, where the hosts were beaten 5-2 by visting Combe Martin – who were playing their first game since January 13.
Tyler Draper scored a hat-trick for the visitors, and there were two goals for Tom Goldsworthy.
The win was Combe’s third from their last five.
It’s been a lean couple of months for the league, with six games taking place so far in February.
January saw just 27 games played across all four divisions.
The league confirmed last Wednesday that Lynton and Lynmouth would be withdrawing from the league, citing a lack of player commitment.
