National medal for Nick

19:02 30 April 2013

Bideford Reds’ junior rowers were in action at the National Junior Inter-Regional Regatta at the National Watersports Centre in Nottingham as part of the west regional team.

The championships were contested by the 10 British rowing regions racing over a 1,500 metre course in heats and finals.

Despite having to face the top single scullers in the Junior 15 age category, Reds junior and Bideford College student, Nick Wilson, produced a solid performance in his heat to qualify for the main final, in which an outstanding performance saw him collect a bronze medal.

The Reds’ Junior 15 boys quad four of Dan Crowther, Alex Rowland, Matt Harris, Eden Brittle and cox Abbie Dunn. They missed a place in the main A final, but rowed well in the Petite final, where they came home in third place.
