Misfits stay top

This week’s North Devon Table Tennis League round-up
Misfits still lead the first division after their 6-4 win over Castle Knights, but not before Michael Sussex claimed a hard-earner triple.
Another player who scored a triple was Paul Laverty, who played superbly well for Holsworthy but Torrington dug in well to take the game. Smugglers were the big winners this week, beating Balls of Fury 8-2 as Peter Hedge and Mathew Thomas finished the evening unbeaten.
The second division is slowly unravelling as bigger wins this week have separated the teams. Leaders Hartland were, however, pegged back by Mad Batters with Robin Gale returning to form and winning three.
The young Chewaces did very well to beat the Holsworthy B squad. Rob Herman, ably supported by James Raymont, was very strong but their doubles form is patchy.
Corinthians felt the full force of Herons’ disappointment from last week’s defeat and were demolished 10-0. Littleham were only slightly off but it was enough to give Chulmleigh A a 7-3 win, Bill Tregellas on song with three and the two Kevins - Davies and Avery - with a pair apiece.
The third division is going Torrington B’s way as they recorded a 10-0 win over Silverleaves. Harry Collins and Mathew Sussex scored three, as did the quickly improving Keith Collins.
Chulmleigh B are adapting to life in the league and ran the vastly experienced Dolphins close, leading 4-2 before going on to lose the last four. Perry Scibilia’s narrow win over Chulmleigh’s Tom Roberts proved crucial.
