Round-up of a busy midweeek schedule in the North Devon Gazette Football League
BRAUNTON Reserves marched 20 points clear in the Senior division of the North Devon Gazette Football League during a busy schedule of midweek fixtures across the four divisions.
Braunton’s impressive season continued on Wednesday night, as they beat North Molton Reserves 5-3.
Goals from Ryan Hawkes, Tom Hunnibell, Matt Hunt, Lee Eates and a penalty from Will Dale secured the points, despite the best efforts of North Molton’s Josh Heslington (2) and Prince Sexon.
Park United usurped Landkey Town to go second courtesy of a 5-0 win over Northam Lions.
Park boast the best goal difference of any side across the four divisions - +106 – after hammering their mid-table opponents.
It is the fifth league game in a row which has yielded five or more goals for Park, who appear to be gunning for Braunton’s top spot.
They have seven games in hand on the league leaders.
Landkey slipped to third after being held to a 1-1 draw at Torridgeside Reserves.
In the Premier division, Appledore Reserves played out a goalless draw with Dolton on Wednesday, while Shamwickshire Rovers drew 1-1 with North Molton on Tuesday.
Ilfracombe Town Thirds’ Intermediate one title aspirations took a serious hit on Wednesday night as they lost 6-2 at home to Hartland.
Hartland remain eighth, although Wednesday’s trip to Ilfracombe was only their 15th game of the season so far.
The defeat leaves Ilfracombe six points off the top, having played two games more than leaders Anchor Chiefs.
Braunton Fourths moved back up to fourth in Intermediate two with a 3-0 win at Chittlehampton Reserves.
Braunton are only seven points behind the league leaders, but have played more games than any other team in the division.
Haxton Rangers missed the chance to go top, losing by a goal to nil at Puford Reserves.
