Barnstaple RFC youth results
BARNSTAPLE U16s snatched a try late in the game and converted it to earn a 26-all draw at Taunton. Barum opened the scoring in the first minute when Matthew Symons collected the kick-off and powered into the opposition 22.
Two quick rucks in succession saw the ball go right then left for Matt Morrish to open the scoring.
Taunton responded with two tries, one converted, to lead 12-5 at the break. Barum came out firing in the second half and just after the break Morrish ran in a solo effort from his own 22. The try was converted by Symons for all square at 12-12.
Ten minutes later with Barum still on the attack quick hands by the backs saw Morrish go over for his hat-trick, again converted by Symons. Barum had opportunities to score close to the Taunton line but with ten minutes to go an interception five yards out led to Taunton going the length of the pitch to score and convert for 19-all.
Taunton attacked wide from inside their own half and put their right wing away to score under the posts for a 26-19 lead with 5 minutes to go.
Barum did not give up and continued pressure by the forwards saw resulted in Shane Sexon storming over close to a ruck and Symons coolly put over the conversion from the 15 yard line to make the score 26-26.
BARNSTAPLE U15s defeated Exeter Saracens 27-12 to claim their first win of the season.
Danny Southworth and Ed May scored first-half tries as Barum went 10-0 up before Sarries got on the board with a try. Noah Stevens added a third try for Barum, but Sarries converted one of their own to get within three points.
That was as good as it got. Joel Anderson and Josh Samat added tries, one of them converted, as Barnstaple closed the game out.
Barnstaple Colts won 21-20 at Crediton, where the 2nd XV were also in action, winning their game 27-13.
BARNSTAPLE Buccaneers thrashed 14-man Tavistock 87-0 with Andy Swailes leading the way with a hat-trick. Within three minutes Martin Southworth crossed the line to make the score 5-0.
Tavistock had a great attack down the right wing which was only snuffed out at the last moment by some great defence by Isaac Musgrove and Matt Brayley.
From then on it was all Barum with Isaac Musgrove getting two tries and one each for Martin Elkins, Brayley, Nathan Gosling, Gary Parkin and Swailes to make the half-time score 45-0.
A few changes at half time saw some fresh legs and the Buccs set the goal of a clean sheet. Tavistock never really threatened the Buccs and tries for Gosling and Steve Roberts plus two each for Swailes and Gary Parkin ensured the full-time score was an impressive one.
