Bideford shooter scores 366 to beat south west opposition

ALEX Lane of Bideford Target Shooting Club has won the Open & Southwest Pistol Championships after a stunning shoot at Okehampton.

He won the meeting by nine points from one of the top pistol shooters in the county.

In the same event, Clive Magson came third in class B, and the club team (Alex, Clive and Michael Coombs) beat all comers.

The event was competed for over 100 shots.

In the standard course, Alex scored 366 out of a possible 400, seven points more than Nijel Dudley of Fonthill. Clive scored 347 in class B for a two point lead.

In the sport course, Alex had a second place behind Ed Doig of Yealmpton, 12 points adrift, and Clive was third by the same margin from the winner.

In the aggregate of the two competitions, Alex beat Nijel Dudley by nine points in both class A and the overall championship.
