Youngsters off to Exeter for county finals next month

More than 160 year five and six pupils headed to Park School last week for the North Devon Primary School High 5 netball finals.

Boys and girls in 18 teams from all nine learning communities of North Devon competed throughout the day for the chance to compete at the county finals at Exeter University on April 1.

All of the competitors showed excellent skills and all played seven good quality games, with the semi-final spots taken by Caen, Bishops Tawton, Kings Nympton and Landkey.

Caen, Landkey and Bishops Tawton progressed to the final three, and after playing each other it was Lankey who came out victorious. Bishops Tawton were a close second and Caen School took the bronze medals.

School Games Organiser for North Devon Adrian Avery said: “I wish Lankey and Bishops Tawton School good luck at the finals at Exeter University.

“These boys and girls from all over North Devon have been a credit to their schools. They have shown some excellent skills, they compete well but within the spirit of the games.

“A big well done goes to Chris Farr (SSCO for Pilton Community) for organising this fantastic event with the help of Alan Mackie (SSCO for Park Community).”
