Long throws caught Torrington Reserves napping as they went down 4-2 away to Clovelly.
Robin Kearney hit all four of the Clovelly goals. His first was a header via a long throw. Torrington equalised with a Tom Frost penalty. But Kearney netted again following another long throw and a keeper fumble to make it 2-1 at the break.
Back came Torrington with a cracking second by Arlo Reddick, only for Kearney to push Clovelly ahead with a volley via yet another Ian Chan long throw and he then finished off with a fourth.
“I’ve never scored a hat trick before, let alone four,” said the delighted Clovelly matchwinner.
Unbeaten Intermediate One leaders Barnstaple FC maintained their form with a 2-0 win away to Anchor Chiefs.
In a lively and competitive game there was nothing to separate the sides at the break.
But a second-half Connor Nash goal and a penalty from Tom Nash gave the leaders the verdict.
Second-place Torridgeside Reserves had a tight tussle at home to Woolacombe before winning through 2-1 with goals by Simon Gigg and Sean Keneally.
Landkey came out on top by the odd goal of five at home to Braunton thirds.
Both sides were reduced to 10 men in the opening 10 minutes following a two-player tangle.
There was never more than a goal in it throughout, Darren Floyd, Lee Kerswell and Danny Tolman scoring for Landkey and Toby Bennett and George Birch for Braunton, the Landkey winner coming in the last five minutes.
High Bickington and Northam Lions Reserves could not be separated in a 1-1 draw.
Bickington took the lead midway through the opening half through James Manning and Jon Baker-Churchill pulled the Lions back with an equaliser with 15 minutes to go.
Ilfracombe 3rds and Equlizers also drew 1-1, while Barnstaple AAC were 5-4 winners at home to Sporting Barum in a Sunday goalfest.
