Ilfracombe’s impressive form continues with wins for the men and women
Ilfracombe Pilot Gig Club again tasted success at the Clovelly regatta with five victories.
The day’s races commenced with the veterans races and Ilfracombe Ladies stormed to comfortable win.
The men were up to the challenge of matching them and took the trophy, made by the late Patrick Farley out of the old lock gate.
Ilfracombe were starting to set a precedent. The ladies’ A race also went their way, even though stroke rower Zoe Green broke a pin, but she soon got back in and the ladies held off Torridge to secure win number three.
The men’s A team also secured a victory, coming home by a large margin.
The mixed race was the final race of the day and Ilfracombe finished as they had started – with a win. This was an important race as the first home would be the first boat to make it up the hill and out of Clovelly!
Ilfracombe desperately wanted this and they didn’t disappoint, winning well much to the delight of the rest of the team who were waiting with the trolleys.
