Midfielder Maric joins Bluebirds as injury worries cool
Ilfracombe Town have been given a boost in their Toolstation Western League Premier division relegation scrap, announcing the signing of 22-year-old midfielder Dejan Maric.
The former Bovey Tracey and Holsworthy man comes to Marlborough Park with a reputation as a combative presence in the centre of the park, and manager Ross Middleton has expressed his delight at the signing.
“We’re delighted to get him on board, he trained with us in the week and he looks sharp,” said Middleton. “He’s comfortable in possession and is a strong lad so he’ll relish the physical side of our league. The important thing is he’s match fit and ready to play so I look forward to getting him involved.”
Middleton has also been boosted by the news that experienced defender Leeroy Cochran and striker Edd Yeo have committed to the club full time for the rest of the season, while James Mayne, Stan Paxton and Steve Holland are all fit and raring to go following a string of postponements in recent weeks.
It’s not all good news for the Bluebirds, though, as Jamie Bright has suffered a setback in his return from a groin injury, while Frank Paxton looks set for a spell on the sidelines after damaging his knee in training.
