Calne Town 0-2 Barnstaple Town
BARNSTAPLE continued their excellent run of form with a 2-0 win at Calne Town on Saturday.
Barnstaple had to withstand a fair amount of pressure from the home side in the first half, who may well have gone in ahead at the break but for resolute defending from the Barum back line.
But it proved to be a game of two halves, as Town came out a completely different team for the second half.
Barnstaple controlled the game after the break, and were rewarded on the hour mark when Jack Jenkins fired in.
The visitors continued to show why they are such serious promotion contenders thereafter and the cherry was put on top three minutes from time as Shaun Copp got on the score sheet.
Town have now taken 13 points from a possible 15 and although still only sixth in the Toolstation Western League first division at present, they do have momentum and a number of games in hand on the sides above them.
Barnstaple are also likely to benefit from the announcement this week that the league will be extended, giving teams until May 5th to complete their fixtures.
They host Cribbs on Saturday.
