Young golfer tees off today for a place in the last 16

SAUNTON’S Jake Burnage is into the last 16 of the English Amateur Championship, being held at his home course this week.

Jake was one of four home players to enter the prestigious event, and the only man from the club to qualify from the stroke play event of the first two days.

He beat Glen Gorse GC’s Ashley Mason on the 20th hole yesterday to book his place in the second match play round, where he today (Thursday) beat James McCormick of Styal GC 3&2.

Burnage is currently playing Daniel Wasteney for a place in the quarter finals.
