Bideford Sea Cadets Christian Hocking, 15, and Jonathan Limbrick, 12, came back from the Sea Cadet National Sailing Regatta in Southport with gold medals.

They sailed in four races on the marine Lake Southport in a Bosun class boat, winning one race and also being placed fourth and seventh. Their overall result was fourth in Great Britain in the Bosun class. The Bideford duo were part of a 12-strong South West team that tied for first place in the overall competition with an Eastern team.

Bideford Sea Cadets sail on the Taw and Torridge through the summer under the instruction of Karen Raymont and are always looking to recruit new members aged 10 to 17 years.
