This year’s regatta is taking place between July 26 - August 7

The regatta week starts on Saturday, July 26 with a Gaffers and Luggers race, with model yacht racing taking place across the estuary at West Appledore the following day. Plenty of models of all sizes are available to lend to children.

Boats and paddles are available for anyone wishing to take part in teams of up to 14 per boat which will have an experienced coxswain in each boat.

Monday evening stages the famous world championship crabbing contest on Appledore Quay for teams of up to four. On Tuesday evening, there will be traditional salmon boat races and on Wednesday the pilot gig sprint racing.

On Saturday, August 2, Torridge Gig Club is staging its invitation rowing event, and in the afternoon there will be a beach tug of war competition at Appledore Quay.

Regatta day, the main event, is on Sunday, August 3 beginning at 9.00am with a record 38 rowing races, sailing and many other water-borne events as well as stalls on the quay.

A full day of activities on Instow beach is planned including children’s races, face painting, a barbecue, sandcastle competition and much more.

Activities are finalised on Thursday, August 7 with a gig estuary race.
