This week’s South West Peninsula League news

WITHERIDGE were pegged back from two goals up as they lost to St Austell in the Carlsberg South West Peninsula Premier division on Saturday.

Witheridge looked to be on track for a win when Luke Cole and Steve Ebdy put them two up in the first half.

But Withy conceded just before the interval, giving their opponents hope in a game which had been all one way traffic for the first 45 minutes.

Two second half strikes for the home side saw Witheridge lose for a third time in four league outings.

They now sit fifth, and head to Plymouth Parkway tonight (Wednesday).

Appledore made it three games without defeat with a fine 5-1 win over Exwick Villa in division one east.

The Fishermen have now climbed to eighth, with games in hand on the teams around them.

Holsworthy were on the wrong side of a tennis score as they were beaten 7-5 at home by Helston Athletic.

They sit two points above the foot of the division one west table, with three teams tied beneath them.

They host Wadebridge Town tonight (Weds).
