Both teams forced to call off weekend games due to adverse conditions

This weekend’s weather woes extended to the Western League, too, as both Ilfracombe and Barnstaple had to call off home games due to waterlogged pitches.

Ilfracombe were looking to end their indifferent run of form in the Premier division with a home game against Odd Down, but the side will now have to travel down from Bath during midweek after the pitch at Marlborough Park.

Combe have suffered back-to-back heavy defeats away from home, and their last two home games have now fallen foul of the weather, leaving them third from bottom. They go to Sherborne Town on Saturday.

It was bad news, too, at Mill Road, where Barnstaple should have entertained Shepton Mallet on Saturday.

That game was also postponed, leaving Barnstaple ninth in the First division ahead of a trip to Westbury United on Saturday.
