Toolstation Western League schedule decimated by bad weather

Bad weather caused havoc in the Toolstation Western League last weekend as only six games went ahead across the two divisions.

Barnstaple Town’s trip to Almondsbury UWE was one of four first division games to fall foul of the poor conditions, as they hoped to improve on their current eighth position.

Town now have at least two games in hand on each of the sides above them – and as many as seven in hand on fifth-placed Cribbs.

There was also disappointment for Ilfracombe, who had hoped three points might be on the cards at home to bottom side Bishops Sutton before the game was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch at Marlborough Park.

In fact, all eight scheduled premier division fixtures failed to go ahead on Saturday, with the games set to be rescheduled for later in the season.

Barnstaple will travel to Welton Rovers on Saturday, while Ilfracombe will hope for better weather at Bitton this weekend.
