Youngsters crowned league champions

BIDEFORD Blues have been crowned North Devon under 11 champions.

The youth set-up at the Blues is thriving, with more than 290 members enjoying the Sandymere base.

Coach Stuart Corbett has been particularly impressed with the U11s this season, who had not even played competitively until last season. On top of their league success, they are also through to the semi-finals of the plate competition.

As well as their impressive season under coach Ross Drury, the team have also undertaken a sponsored cycle ride to raise money for new tracksuits.

The U16s have won their plate competition, the U15s have a cup semi-final to look forward to, while both U12 teams are cup semi-finalists with one of the teams leading their division.

Bideford Blues and Appledore JFC also runs three under 10 teams, starting at U8 (year 3). Anyone interesting in joining the teams can contact club secretary Peter Evans: evansandevans@aol.com.
