Tributes to well known sportsman

The passing of well known North Devon sportsman Mike Stevens has brought condolences from players and officials across the region.

Mike was a great servant to local football, as a player and being a long serving member of the North Devon League Management Committee, a former Referee’s Appointments Secretary and Devon FA Life Member.

“He was a true servant to local football and will be sadly missed by many people,” said North Devon league secretary Mike Tattersall. “Our thoughts and condolences go out to Mike’s family, friends and all those that knew him through football.”

Bideford District Snooker League officials and players are also saddened at the loss of Mike, who served as a player and league chairman, and offer their condolences to the family.

Mike, of Devonshire Park, Bideford, died at the North Devon District Hospital last Friday at the age of 65.

The funeral Service will be held at St Mary’s Parish Church Bideford on Friday, March 1st, at 11am followed by cremation at the North Devon Crematorium Barnstaple. Family flowers only, but donations in his memory may be given for the North Devon Referees Association Benevolent Fund and Border Terrier Welfare c/o Michael Morris Funeral Service, Bideford, 01237 420900.
