Evo-Stik League South West game called off after 43 minutes
Bideford’s League South West clash with fellow high-flyers Salisbury was brought to an early finish this afternoon (Saturday) as a heated encounter boiled over.
Referee Daniel Lamport abandoned the game with 43 minutes on the clock after both teams had been reduced to 10 men.
George Colson was dismissed by Lamport shortly after the half-hour mark after an altercation with Billy Tucker. Six minutes later Tucker was given his marching orders for a second bookable offence, by which point things had very much deteriorated.
Two Bideford players walked Tucker off the pitch but the players only made it as far as the steps to the tunnel before an altercation ensued with a member of the crowd.
Lamport consulted with his assistants before the game was abandoned.
Salisbury were leading 3-0 before the stoppage. Owen Howe gave the Whites the lead after just three minutes in his first game for the club.
They doubled their lead eight minutes later when Start Green found the net. Eddie Perrett added a third with 26 minutes on the clock.
