Putford take over at the top

15:31 08 January 2013

Putford Reserves have gone back to the top of the table following their 5-0 win away to North Molton 3rds.

There was little to choose between the sides for the opening 20 minutes, but once Putford put their noses in front, they never looked back.

The loss of free scoring Arlo Reddick to Torrington did not hold Putford back as Bradley Prouse (2), Mike Merrick, Dave Buckpitt and Dave Richardson all found the net.

After losing their last game to Pilton at the beginning of December 4-0, the Chiefs’ second team were rewarded for some good football with a 2-1 win.

Pilton took the lead in the 16th minute through Antony Higgs and Chiefs’ centre half Terry Hollingsworth equalised in the 28th minute. A debut for former goalkeeper turned striker Phil Roberts made the difference when he scored his first goal in the 75th minute.

Chittlehampton Reserves came from two goals down to record an emphatic 9-2 win at home to Buckland Brewer.

Simon Adams and Chris Bell put Buckland in front in the early exchanges, but then Chittle found their stride and scored seven times before half time, their goals coming from Nico Pfieffer (4), Tom Murray (2) and Ross Johnson. The second half saw further goals by Chittle substitutes Elliot Smith and Adam Thorn.
