Pilton beat Torrington to close gap at the top

PILTON climbed to fourth in Intermediate One and further underlined their title credentials with a 3-2 win at Torrington Reserves on Wednesday night.

Academicals moved to within five points of leaders Braunton Thirds, and still have four games in hand.

They have also played fewer games than any of the teams around them.

The points were sealed against a strong Torrington side thanks to two goals from John Blundell and one from Jack Ryder.

Pilton narrowly held on after being reduced to 10 men for the last 20 minutes, and host Barnstaple AAC on Saturday.

Torrington do not have a game this weekend.
