Appledore suffered their fifth consecutive defeat in Division 1 East as they slipped to a 1-0 reverse at home to Newton Abbot Spurs.

The Fishermen had the better of the opening half, with good build-up play, but were unable to apply the finishing touches.

The game remained goalless until midway through the second half when an own goal that decided the spoils.

Appledore defender Tim Watson tried to head a long kick back to his keeper, only for it to go past him into the net.

Holsworthy lost 2-1 away to Hayle in Division 1 West.

The Cornishmen opened their account after 20 minutes with a good jinking run and shot by Matt Thomas, who doubled their lead just before half time with a shot deflected by a Holsworthy defender.

Holsworthy hit bakc 15 minutes from time when Matt Carroll netted after a fierce shot from Dominic Abbot could only be parried by the keeper.
