North Devon Gazette Football League: Senior and Intermediate One titles decided on final weekend

This week’s North Devon Gazette Football League round-up
The final weekend of action in the North Devon Gazette Football League saw two titles decided.
Ilfracombe Town Reserves got the points they needed against Shamwickshire Rovers to claim the league title.
The Bluebirds were 4-1 winners over Shammy, beating the side they overcame in the Combe Martin Cup final to secure a league and cup double and promotion to the Premier Division.
Brady Sanders and Mark Gilfillan both struck twice in the win, with Gilfillan’s efforts leaving him just one shy of hitting 50 goals in the league and cup over the course of the season.
Jason McGinley scored for Rovers.
Bluebirds coach Adam Bryant said: “What a successful season for our side to come out with the league and Combe Martin Cup.
“I’ve had the headache of playing and managing for the last three seasons but it all makes it worth it getting to the Premier.”
Sporting Barum are runners-up, and made it back-to-back unbeaten campaigns last night as they beat Combe Martin 6-0.
On Friday, Barum were 12-1 winners over Kilkhampton, with Damian Green scoring six goals.
Pilton Academicals ended their campaign with a 1-0 win over Combe Martin, and Chittlehampton were 3-1 winners at Merton.
Appledore Reserves took the title with their final fixture of the season on Saturday.
They did so with an emphatic 10-0 win over Barnstaple FC Reserves, taking first place over Braunton Thirds thanks to a superior goal difference.
A hat-trick from Charlie Webb and goals from Robin Kearney, Charlie White, Aaron Souster, Connor Davis
and Kieren Vanstone (2) took them to the top spot for the first time since August 27.
Reserves coach Andy Taylor was full of praise for his young squad.
He said: “With six games to go we needed to win all six and get a goal difference of 20.
“The team has been tremendous, and have given 100 per cent.
“We had been on a bad run, but we turned it around and to win the league is just out of this world.”
The two clubs at the bottom of the league were unable to end their campaign with some extra points.
Goals from Charlie Griffiths, Adam Perry and James Russell helped Landkey own to a 4-1 win over Barnstape FC, who finish 14th.
Bottom-of-the-league Georgeham and Croyde were beaten 6-3 at home to North Molton.
Holsworthy Reserves picked up six points in two days with their final games of the season, beating Georgeham and Croyde Reserves 1-0 and Appledore Lions 5-0.
Prior to their defeat against Holsworthy, Georgeham picked up a 5-3 win over Park Rangers, with James Coomber scoring four.
Jack Kennedy-Brown got the other goal for Georgeham, while Seb Dunkley scored a hat-trick for Rangers.
Intermediate Two’s other fixture saw Hartland Reserves beat Woolsery 4-1.
Christian George, Jed Kerby, Billy Wickfield and James Colwill got the goals for Hartland, with Mark Souch scoring in reply.
