The Bluebirds beat promotion rivals Braunton on Saturday. Here’s this week’s league round-up

Ilfracombe Town took the advantage in the race for the South West Peninsula League on Saturday.

The Bluebirds were 3-0 winners over fellow promotion-hopefuls Braunton at Lobb Field.

With the home side short of regulars and options up front, Ilfracombe took advantage.

Joe Seldon gave the visitors the lead before Cassian Blackmore nodded in after the break. Callum Norman turned in the third.

The win moves Ilfracombe into second, two points off leaders Boca Seniors in the North Devon Gazette Premier.

Boca got back on track with a 3-2 win over Shamwickshire Rovers at Mill Road.

Adam Copp, Jake Crush and Mark Turner got the goals for Boca, who ended a run of three games without a win.

Will Nicholls and Jason McGinley netted for Shammy, who were reduced to 10 men after Rikki Kelly was shown a red card.

Defeat for Rovers leaves them in fifth, three points behind Park United, who were the big winners on Saturday.

They reached double figures at Barnstaple FC, winning 12-1 at Tews Lane.

North Molton and Fremington moved back towards mid-table with three points each.

Molton were 3-0 winners over Hartland to leapfrog them and move into ninth.

Sam Phillips netted twice for Molton, with Elliot Macdonald also scoring. Matthew Beveridge was sent off for the Stags.

A hat-trick for Andy King helped Fremington to an 8-1 win at Georgeham and Croyde.

Simon Larcome joined him with two goals, while Jon Tossell and Josh Robinson also netted. Ben Dooley scored for Georgeham.

Bideford CAFC got their fourth win from five with a 2-1 victory over Shebbear.

Steven Morris scored for Bideford, who were helped by an own goal.

Ilfracombe Town Reserves made it to the summit of the Senior on Saturday, albeit for 24 hours.

The Bluebirds got there with a 2-1 win over Kilkhampton at Marlborough Park.

Dan Wright scored for Ilfracombe, who were helped by an own goal. Dave Hales scored for Kilk.

Braunton returned to the top of the pile on Sunday after a 9-0 win over Northam Lions, although Ilfracombe have four games on the leaders.

Sporting Barum kept pace with a 5-0 win over Merton on Saturday.

Stuart Cameron netted a hat-trick in the win, and Damian Green added two more.

At the other end of the table, Combe Martin moved off the bottom of the table for the first time this season.

They did it with a 3-1 win at High Bickington.

They were also aided by Shamwickshire Rovers Reserves’ 5-0 win over Putford, who moved to the foot of the table.

Chittlehampton moved further away from the bottom of the league with a valuable 4-2 win at home to Chivenor.

Chittle moved up to ninth, in part thanks to Torridgeside Reserves’ 2-1 win over Northam Lions.

Vincent Bott scored both goals for T-Side for three points in what was only their fourth game of 2017.

Oli Robinson netted for Northam.

Intermediate One

Braunton Thirds edged a nine-goal thriller against Fremington Reserves in Intermediate One.

Toby Bennett (2), Stephen Filsell, Oliver Bennett and Liam Alexander scored for Braunton.
