Matt adds five for Academicals

10:55 16 November 2011

PILTON Academicals striker Matt Hunt ended a lean spell when he slammed in five in a Senior Division goalfest away to North Molton Reserves, which ended 7-4 in their favour.

Ronnie Richmond and Antony Higgs were the other Pilton scorers.

Fellow contenders Park United were also involved in an 11-goal thriller. But came through more easily 9-2 thanks to their prolific threesome of Dave Brown, Kevin Buck and Steve Skinner, who are all vying for the Golden Boot.

Brown gained a hat-trick and there were two each for Buck and Skinner, plus others by Mark Hill and Colin Harris, who came off the bench and scored with a free-kick just inside the Bude half, with his first kick of the game.

It was a good weekend for Chittlehampton, who followed up a 5-1 league win at home to Northam Lions with an 8-1 victory in the Holman Cup on Sunday at home to Barnstaple Ammies Reserves.

Jamie Gifford netted a hat-trick against the Lions and other goals came from Ross Witton and Ciaron Lishman. Matt Cloak netted for the Lions to make it 3-1 at half-time.

Gifford added another two goals to his tally against the Ammies, Simon Loosemoore netted twice from the spot and there were others from james Campbell, Matt Ransley, David Sparkes and an own goal.

Nick Glover was in scoring mood for Woolsery, netting their first two and last two in 5-1 win at home to South Molton. Sandwiched between was a goal by Jack Smallridge.

There was nothing between the teams in the opening half and they changed ends at 1-1, Mark Power netting for Molton. But after Glover’s second strike early in part two, Woolsery pulled away.

Braunton Reserves were 5-0 winners at home to Torrington Reserves with a brace of goals by Jordan Darch and others by Adam Cornish and Sam McCreedy, plus an own goal.

Lynton and Lynmouth were 4-0 winners away to an under-strength Shamwickshire Rovers Reserves who fielded a depleted team after having to give up five of their players to their first team.

Wrey Arms were not in league action, but made up for it with a 7-2 win over Bradworthy in the second round of the Braunton Cup.

Leading 4-0 at the break, they were always in control, scoring through Mark Churchill (2), Jimmy Hill (2), Joss Phillips, Simon Larcombe and 16-year-old debutant Callum Goss. Bradworthy replied with a brace of goals from Darren Furse.

Senior Division: Braunton Res 5, Torrington Res 0; Chittlehampton 5, Northam Lions 1;

Senior Division: North Molton Res 4, Pilton Academicals 7; Park Utd 9, Bude 2; Woolsery 5, South Molton 1; Shamwickshire Rovers Res 0, Lynton and Lynmouth 4.
