Ten-men Fremmington beaten for the first time this season.

SENIOR Division leaders Fremington slipped to their first defeat of the season after being reduced to 10 men against visiting Torrington.

John Tompson’s side, who were unbeaten in the league since October last year, took a half-time lead when Josh Phillips capitalised on a poorly cleared corner.

They looked good for the lead until the game changed when Tim King was red carded for handling the ball on the line.

Torrie’s Kai Dymond put away the resulting spot kick and the visitors moved through the gears, Danny Jenkins hit a second for Torrington with 15 minutes to go.

Both sides hit the woodwork in the closing stages but Jenkins’ strike was to prove decisive.

Manager Tompson said he had no complaints about the result: “We put out a good side missed a few chances playing down the slope.

“I’ll be looking for a response in next week’s game against Woolsery,” he said.

Woolsery got back to winning ways with a 2-1 win at home to South Molton.

The Images opened the scoring early on through Colin Kennerson but the hosts hit back.

Shamwickshire Rovers Reserves had no complaints after turning in what they described as their ‘worst performance of the season’ at Bude.

Shammy went 2-0 down at the break and despite Bude having a player sent off, were unable to take the game by the scruff of the neck.

Ross Glover made it 2-1 but Bude pulled away with two further goals to give the visitors far too much to do.

Glover and Mark Jury mad a decent stab at it with goals in the last five minutes but it was too little too late for the East-the-Water side.

Merton beat North Molton Reserves 6-0.

In the Firewatch Devon Senior Cup, Combe Martin beat Roborough Reserves. Cassian Blackmore scored twice and Pete Varley was also on target for the North Devon Side.

Park United were beaten 5-2 in a re-scheduled fixture at Witheridge Res erves. Dave Brown scored twice for Park in a game that began to slip away from them mid-way through the second half.
