Ref rules out late header despite appeal the ball had crossed the line.

A DISALLOWED goal in the last five minutes denied Pilton Academicals Reserves the chance to pull level on points with opponents Braunton Fourths.

Defender Kevin Ten-Bokkel thought his header from a corner had sealed a 2-1 win for the Accies only for referee Pete Sercombe to rule the ball had not crossed the line.

The controversial incident was the main talking point in an evenly-contested match between the fourth and fifth-placed sides at Rock Park on Saturday.

Claudio Pinto had earlier given Pilton the lead from the penalty spot before Braunton made it 1-1 when a corner kick was flicked on at the near post.

Struggling Woolsery Reserves and South Molton Reserves shared the points with a 3-3 draw.

Tom Roode opened the scoring for the Images on 20 minutes and Jeff Henry added a second before Woolsery pulled one back from the penalty spot.

The hosts made it 2-2 before half-time and Henry grabbed his second of the match before Woolsery levelled with 20 minutes to go.

Fremington Reserves beat Lynton Reserves on ‘an absolute pudding of a pitch’ at Holman Park.

All the goals came in the first half, with Richard Badham equalising for Lynton after the visitors had taken a fifth minute lead.

Two penalties and a goal on the strike of half-time break gave Fremmy the 4-1 win in a game of entertaining football considering the conditions.
