Club confirms Middleton will step down from top job at the end of the season

ROSS Middleton is to step down as manager of Ilfracombe Town at the end of the season.

Middleton, who took over from current Barnstaple Town manager Barry Yeo in 2012, led the Bluebirds to 16th place in the Toolstation Western League Premier division last season.

His side have struggled this season, though, and are currently second from bottom having won only one game in 2014.

The club said in a statement on Monday: “Ross Middleton, our First Team Manager, has informed us of his wish to step down at the end of the season, following a meeting with the Co-Chairman, Matthew Hayne.

“Matthew has accepted this decision and will commence the search for Ross’ replacement in the coming days.

“Matthew, Kenny and the Committee wish to thank Ross for his hard work and commitment over the past two seasons, and wish him all the very best for the future.”

Midfielder Middleton will remain at the helm until the end of the season, and will hope to leave on a high by keeping Combe in the Premier division.

Ilfracombe host Bishop Sutton on Tuesday evening as their hunt for vital points continues.
