Bideford’s Exeter City boys make it back-to-back wins in Cornwall

Bideford College Exeter City Football Academy followed up their opening day win with a resounding 5-0 victory at Cambourne College in Cornwall.

Despite the two-hour journey Bideford looked alert right from the off and created some great chances in the opening minutes without reward.

But once they broke the deadlock on fifteen minutes they piled on the agony for Cambourne and had the match sown up by the break, leading 4-0.

The final goal in the 5-0 victory came midway through the second half when “Rambo” Ryan Peters struck a precise free kick from 25 yards which came down off the underside of the bar and over the line giving the keeper no chance. Bideford played out the half keeping possession and avoiding the ever-increasing bad tackles from their frustrated opponents.

Albeit early days, Bideford College sit top of the British Colleges South West League and look forward to playing host to Bodmin on October 16 in their next fixture.

Bideford College is also entering a team in a lower league so that all students who attend their academy are sure to gain plenty of match experience.

Their first fixture is scheduled for the October 9. Jason Smith and Dave Langford, the Exeter City coaches delivering the programme, see this as a vital addition in order to keep all students involved and competing for their college.
